Weekly numbers are averages over the last 8 weeks. Another city or record type? Ask us: if the city publishes it as open data, we can usually add it.
The leads are public. Finding them isn't.
Every new permit and business licence is a company about to spend money: on contractors, materials, equipment, insurance, signage, cleaning. Cities publish these records, but they're spread over different portals, in raw formats, mixed with noise. Snippet Room reads them for you and sends only what matters, once a week.
From city portal to your inbox
- We collect. Every day we pull new records from the cities' own open-data portals, under each portal's terms of use.
- We clean. Dates, addresses and values in one format, duplicates removed, small jobs filtered out. Business information only.
- You get it Monday. An email with the week's highlights, a spreadsheet (CSV) and a private web table you can sort and filter.

Hi, I'm Daan.
I'm 20, from Belgium, and I work with public records: the building permits and new business registrations that cities publish every day. Snippet Room turns them into one clean list every Monday, and every row links back to the official record so you can check it yourself.

Straight answers.
Where does the data come from?
From the open-data portals that cities and counties run themselves, such as data.cityofchicago.org. We use them through their public APIs and follow each portal's terms of use.
Do you change the records?
No. We only tidy the format (dates, capitals, units) and remove duplicates. If anything looks off, the link on each row takes you to the official record.
Is there personal data in the feeds?
No. The feeds contain business information only. Records that name a private person instead of a business are left out.
When do I get it?
Every Monday, covering the week before. The data itself is refreshed daily.
Can I get a city that isn't listed?
Ask us. If the city publishes permits or licences as open data, we can usually add it. We'll tell you honestly if it doesn't.
What format is it in?
A CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets, plus a private web table you can sort and filter in your browser.
Can I cancel?
Yes, anytime, through the link in your receipt or by emailing us.
